Born in the heart of Luxembourg, I, Joé Garson, share a story that reaches far beyond the confines of my small country. As the son of a Cape Verdean mother who moved to Luxembourg in her thirties, I was raised in a world shaped by modesty and relentless effort. My mother, a woman of indomitable spirit, went door to door seeking work, striving to give us a better life.
Our financial situation was always tight, and this was often reflected in my clothing, especially my shoes, which were frequently worn out and counterfeit. These moments of ridicule and shame at school left a deep imprint on me, scarring my self-esteem. The hurt drove me down a path of anger, finding myself in conflicts with those who mocked me.
But life had different plans for me. In my darkest moments, I discovered my talent for art. Drawing became my sanctuary, a window to a world where I could express my dreams and hopes. With each stroke on the paper, I reclaimed a piece of myself, a piece of confidence and respect.
This creative journey led me to collaborate with a talented designer from Austria. Together, we transformed my sketches and dreams into tangible reality. It was a turning point in my life, igniting my passion for art and fashion, and leading me to establish my own luxury shoe brand.
With Genie Jaguar, I aimed to create more than just shoes. Each pair is a work of art, reflecting my creativity, passion, and story. They are a symbol of how beauty and strength can emerge from pain and struggle.
As a qualified educator, my commitment to youth is also close to my heart. I wish to use my journey to show others that they can achieve something significant despite adversities. My goal is to be a role model, not just in the fashion industry but also in the lives of young people who are searching for their path.
